Netflix India has appointed Mahima Kaul as its new Director of Public Policy. Kaul expressed her excitement for the role in a LinkedIn post, emphasizing her enthusiasm for the challenges and opportunities in the OTT and streaming sectors in India.
“Absolutely delighted to have joined Netflix today to lead public policy in India,” Kaul stated. “After considerable time spent in social media/apps, I am really excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead for OTTs and streaming services, and the broader policy work ahead of us.”
Kaul’s previous role was as Director of Public Policy for APAC at Bumble, where she established public policy priorities and launched the “Brunch with Bumble” series. She also contributed to research on online gender-based violence in India. Prior to her tenure at Bumble, she progressed from Head of Public Policy & Government Partnerships to Director at Twitter.
Kaul’s career began at the Center for Policy Research. She has also worked with Ventana Productions, Hendrick Communications, Orion Publishing, The Indian Express, NewsX, and the Observer Research Foundation.
