Actors Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter are set to headline an upcoming Netflix series titled ‘The Royals,’ which marks the return of Bollywood veteran Zeenat Aman to the screen. The series, created by Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy, is a modern-day rom-com centered around Indian royalty, as reported by PTI.
Described as a tale of unexpected romance, ‘The Royals’ explores what happens when an entitled prince meets a determined startup whiz. The official synopsis teases, “When an entitled Prince Charming meets a startup whiz, it’s inevitable that they will bump heads! Will their ambitions collide, two worlds clash, or even spark a surprising romance?”
In addition to Pednekar and Khatter, the series boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny. Zeenat Aman, known for her iconic roles in 1970s and 1980s hits like ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna,’ ‘Don,’ and ‘Qurbani,’ will make a special appearance, adding a touch of nostalgia to the series.
Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, ‘The Royals’ marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Pritish Nandy Communications. The creators, Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy, expressed their excitement, stating, “We’re thrilled to be a part of the Netflix family and partner with them to take our unique take on the classic maharaja (king) and aamkumari (commoner) tale to a global audience.”
With its star-studded cast and fresh take on a classic romance, ‘The Royals’ is poised to captivate audiences when it premieres on Netflix.
